![]() ![]() ![]() We took a video of my daughter got out and tried to open up the gas tank and it scared her because she thought it was going to blow up but as soon as we open the gas tank door it was really loud. OK I hope that I can share my video we found out what this noise was today, finally- I’ve been trying to figure it out for the last six months. Car has been running fine for four months now. Replaced the evap purge valve under the hood. Found code P1450 again, did a smoke test. Tech said he had all the info on what he needed to fix. First time I was actually pleased to have it come on. After a few miles the check engine light came on. They couldn't duplicate but offered to do a ride along. Five miles down the road from picking the car up from the dealer, she had the same symptoms. When it happened again, took the car to the dealer, they found code P1450 stored and replaced the vent valve in the fuel system tucked up in the rear of the car (note: if you have 4WD there are posts on this forum indicating this is a complex and therefore expensive repair compared to 2WD). My daughter's 2015 Titanium 2.0 would start to make a vibrating noise in the back when driving (she thought it was her phone buzzing in her purse) - then when she slowed down or stopped for a light, the car would run rough and stall. Bottom line is you should have this checked out as it will continue to happen, and at inopportune times. This sounds too familiar so I'll update my prior post on this issue. After the second time I drove about 10 miles back to the house and it did not do that again. It did not but at the stop light about 2 more miles the engine chugged again. Starting driving again and about 2 miles down the road we had to stop at a stop sign, at that point the engine started to chug as if it wanted to cut off. I open the door and pushed on the tab which stopped the noise. As I was standing next to the gas tank I heard the noise coming from the tank cap. We stopped the car and I went to the back to see if I could find where it was coming from. Then this morning taking my daughter to school I heard the noise again. The noise stopped after about a minute or so. First thought was the brakes rubbing since we have had a lot of rain and wet roads. But, on the way to town I heard a strange noise from the back right side. Or how to check other things.Īuto zone pulled up a part for me, the canister purge valve? (Picture attached) the guy told me to pull a hose off and put my finger over that, and if its not suctioning, then that's what needs to be replaced.New to the site as I just purchased a 2015 Escape last month. Just recently this week, my check engine light came on again, I got it checked and it was the same p1450 code. Everything was fine, for months at least. We replaced it, and all problems disappeared. Me and my dad came to the conclusion that the purge valve needed to be replaced, (bunch of hoses all connected, attached a picture below). Like there was no gas in it, literally in the middle of the freeway. The car didnt die, the radio never shut off, nothing lost power. I had some loud thumping noise coming from my gas tank, and the car would occasionally loose "power" except, it wasnt power. I had this same code around October 2019. ![]() Hey, I have a 2013 Ford Escape SEL 2wd 2.0 L.
